Award - Temaki Carr

The organization took shape when Dr. Carr mobilized a diverse Christian community in Belgium to provide disaster relief for Nepal following the 2015 earthquake. This initiative, “Two Fish and Five Loaves of Bread,” not only provided vital aid but also strengthened unity across communities.

From assisting victims of terrorist attacks in Brussels to promoting women’s socio-economic independence in Ghana and Pakistan, Loving the Nations has remained unwavering in its mission: to demonstrate love through action.

A Leader Forged by Experience and Diversity

With a doctorate in Community Organizing and a master’s degree in Intercultural Relations, Dr. Carr’s leadership is deeply influenced by her 20-year military career.

“Everyone is value-added, every perspective is important, diversity is essential, and unity is critical to mission success,” she explains. Her military background instilled in her the discipline, strategic planning, and leadership skills necessary to manage large-scale humanitarian projects across multiple countries.

Her multicultural upbringing further shaped her inclusive leadership approach, ensuring that everyone in Loving the Nations feels heard, appreciated, and empowered.

Empowering Women and Future Generations

Loving the Nations focuses on women’s empowerment, believing that helping a woman uplifts entire families and communities. Through initiatives in Pakistan, Ghana, and Kenya, the organization provides education, job skills, and support to help women achieve socio-economic independence.

“Our goal is to create a world where every woman and girl has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to her community,” Dr. Carr asserts.

Beyond individual empowerment, Loving the Nations fosters cross-cultural collaboration and community-building efforts, encouraging people from diverse backgrounds to work together for lasting change.

Celebrating 10 Years of Impact

As Loving the Nations approaches its 10th anniversary, the organization is preparing to return to Nepal in 2025, focusing on humanitarian aid in remote mountain villages.

Reflecting on this journey, Dr. Carr shares, “Our mission is to touch the world with the Love of Christ, and we remain committed to being present and relevant in the crises of everyday life.”

Her legacy of faith-driven humanitarianism is a source of inspiration for women leaders, global change-makers, and nonprofit pioneers worldwide.
